Eliza's Hair

Everyone who knows me well knows that growing up I loved to do and play with hair. I use to do my dolls hair all the time, and would do my grandma's hair when she would come and visit, and sometimes the neighbors girls hair. Anyway I have been doing Eliza's hair since she was born. A friend of mine who had a little girl siad the best advice she could give me was to start young so that it was routine and she wouldn't fight me later. So, even when it was too short for a ponytail I would brush it every morning and put in a headband, and when it was long enough for a ponytail I would do the single one on top. I ran across this website that had hair styles for girls from when they are very little with not much hair until about 10-11 years old. They were cute so we decided to try a few. Mine have not turned out as cute as the ones on the website, but I have been very lucky that since I have done her hair since she was a newborn she will sit (not always very still), but will sit and let me do her hair. Here are two of the four we have tried out.

When Your Tired You.......Well Addison....

The litte boys were in the front room watching a movie while John and I surfed the internet looking for jobs and housing. When the movie was over Vincent came back and asked one of to please start the special features. John jumped up to do it and came back laughing and asking for my camera. I gave him the camera and followed him out to find Addison sleeping on the couch like this. How this is comfortable is beyond me, but it apparently does not bother him.

New Kids On The Block

I know I just did a blog that comprised mostly about me with mothers day and all, but I had to put this one on for the benefit of my husband and brother Donald. As a teenager I LOVED the New Kids On The Block. My bedroom had wall to wall posters of them. I had all their albums, several of their music video tapes, their dolls, and was a member of their fan club, etc... You could say I was pretty obsessed over them. When I heard they were getting back together, all the fond memories of them filled my mind and I even got out my old albums and listened to them to my husbands enjoyment. They performed on the Today Show this morning and was bummed that I was not get to see it as I volunteer in Vincent's class on Friday and since they were not scheduled to start until 8:45 and Vincent has to be at school by 8:15. I got Vincent and Addison to school, and then got to my friends house who watches Nicholas and Eliza for me to find she had it on and it had just started as I got there, so to my full enjoyment I got to see it after all. I ended up being about 15 minutes late to Vincents class and when I apologized to Vincents teacher and told her why I was late. She told me not to worry as she was tape recording it at home as she once was a teenager with the same love as me. So, this blog is dedicated to my husband and brother. Enjoy the music all weekend boys!

Mothers Day

Mother's Day was very enjoyable for me this year as it ended up being Mother's Weekend! John and I went out on a date on Saturday where he took me to my favorite restaurant The Olive Garden, and then we went shopping at Costco and walked around slowly and leisurely. it was so nice as with us date night usually only happens two or three times a year. We figure it costs us around $100.00 to go on a date by the time we pay a babysitter to watch 4 kids for a few hours and then you pay for dinner, it adds up fast. Not something we can afford often, but I sure enjoy it when it happens!
Sunday we went to church in the morning and then we came home and had sandwiches for lunch and a set up on my dining room table my sewing projects and got busy. The kids help make dinner but other then that I sat at the table a sewed all evening long. I think what also helped is John (the spoiled booger) who ranks right up there with my kids in being spoiled got a Wii for his birthday and since it wasn't gotten until Saturday it was a novelty so they played Wii all evening and left me alone. Now today, my house looks like a bomb went off so R&R is over and it is back to the daily grind of life.
Here is a picture of what my kids got for me. Addison made a hand print and frame at school. Vincent made a candle holder at school, and Nicholas put pictures of him in a photo bag that the Nursery helped all the kids put together at church yesterday.

Happy Birthday Nicholas!

It seams like a few days ago we were celebrating a birthday!! Oh wait, we were. Nicholas "NickNick" will be three on 5/10. I call him my "Little Ray of Sunshine" for he truly is. Little also being the operative word as at three he only weighs about 26-28 pound. The third picture of him was taken two years ago, and although he has a more mature look, he probably weighs about the same! Nicholas is a shadow to Addison and tries to do anything and everything he does. Heaven Help Us Now.

Happy birthday my Son!

Vandalia Zoo Trip

Vincent's 1st grade class along with another first grade class, a kindergarten class, and a second grade class went on a field trip to the zoo. I had the joy of having these five young gentlemen and Addison in my group. Addison came along with my parents but walked with my group of boys and thought he was so grown up to be with these big boys. There was only two downfalls of the day and that was that we only had an hour and a half in the zoo and a problem with the charter buses. The kids had earned enough money to get charter buses so they were able to have a bathroom (which is nice for five and six year olds going on a two hour bus ride), and TVs to watch movies. Apparently a bus 45 minutes away from the same bus company broke down so they sent one of our buses to go get the people who were broke down with our kids lunches still on the bus. So they had to send someone to go get the lunches so our kids had to wait close to 45 minutes to get lunch and then another half hour on top of that for them to send a second bus to get the kids, and the bus driver they sent had just come back from a 24 hour bus trip so he was over tired. So, the kids were almost and hour late getting back to the school at the end of the day. Not very professional of the bus company in my opinion.

Happy Birthday John

My dear husband John will hit the big 30 tomorrow (May 6th). I am very thankful for him and for him teaching extra classes and teaching summer school so that we can get by with what piano lessons I teach and let me still be able to be a stay at home mom!
