McDermott Field House

In the town north of us they built a Field House. Several of the youth in our ward have passes to go. They have a wave rider, rock wall, all sports rooms, skateboard ramps, video games, lazer tag, etc. Vincent and Addison went with a friend of ours for their sons birthday. They came home and kept asking to go back but my friend had told me it was very expensive, and my thought was what would the two little ones do? We found out through another friend that on Friday's from 4-10 they pull out all the bounce houses and fill the basketball courts and it is FREE. A word I enjoy. We decided we would go over and check it out. I had to take dinner into a friend of ours who had surgery so I ran the dinner over to them and told them what we were doing and she said, "You know they sent us a coupon for a free pizza and 4 drinks and I think it expires soon." She sent her son to get it and sure enough it expired that night. She gave it to us and my kids were thrilled. They had the time of their life and the night cost me less than $5.00 (For John and I a drink). It wasn't very crowded when we got there at 4:30 but by 7:30 it was getting very busy and kids were knocking into each other jumping and Addison got bumped and was upset so we felt that 3 hours was sufficient. We loaded them up and 3 kids were asleep before we even got home. Score! What a fun night and we hope to go back and do it again. It was great fun and a great way to use up little kids energy.

Give A Day Get A Day Project Linus

As some of you saw after Christmas I had placed a counter on my blog page that we were trying to earn enough money to go to Disneyland in March for Eliza's 3rd Birthday. It was looking hopeless and I didn't want to upset my kids and give them false hope so I took it off. I was talking to a friend of the family who lives down in Southern California and has an annual pass to Disneyland and I asked him the next time he went if he could look for something we needed for a school project for Addison. He asked if we were planning on coming down and taking the kids anytime soon, and I told him at $80.00 a piece for John and I to get in. $60.00 a piece for the kids to get in and you add motels, food, etc. I just didn't think we would make it. He asked me if I had heard of the Give a Day, Get a Day offer from Disney. I had but hadn't given it much thought. I got on the website and found in our area Project Linus. You make and donate one blanket for each family member that would like a ticket. Each member has to help in someway to earn their ticket. Disney's rules are for only ages 6 and above so only Addison, Vincent, John, and I can participate in Give a Day Get a Day. I have been making the quilts and the boys have been tying them. They are having so much fun and we decided to tell them that we were doing it for service project (which we are) we have just left out the possible end result. John said even if it doesn't come together and we still don't have enough to go, it was still a great learning experience for our boys to give service to someone who needs it.

But don't tell them...... We are very close to our goal now and it is looking very promising that we will be going to Disneyland in March!

Archimedes?

I was cleaning upstairs and Eliza and Nicholas were playing in the playroom across the hall. I kept hearing Eliza say Archimedes. At first I questioned why she was saying that but one of Vincent's favorite Disney's Movies is the Sword and the Stone and the owls name is Archimedes
so I figured whatever they were playing Eliza had named her's Archimedes. As I finished cleaning the room I went to take a load of dirty laundry down the stairs and I poked my head into the play room. Boy was I wrong about Archimedes!
